How to begin FPV flying
The FPV drone is the practice of immersion flight (First person view), it is a flight mode in which the pilot positions himself with an "on-board" point of view, piloting as if he were on board of the drone. Today, the practice mainly concerns drone racing (FPV racer), freestyle, "bando" type flight, etc... or even kinematic flight (complex, fast trajectories, sequence shots, etc... or in constrained places : obstacles, such as passing through a window or a door, indoor flight,… for cinematographic or at least audiovisual purposes.
2 types of machines are offered in this sense on the market:
- Stabilized drones, with total or partial stabilization
- Unstabilized drones, for which some experience is necessary.
For a great beginner, it is important to go through practice on a flight simulator and there are very many of them, very often free or in the form of a cheap subscription: Tryp FPV, velocidrone, Aster FPV, Liftoff, AI drone simulator… or on certain video game consoles such as the playstation.
Many radio controls can be connected with these simulators: Tango2 TBS, FRSKY radio controls such as Taranis X9D, X9DP, X Lite, etc. with a wireless key or even certain radio controls delivered with Beta FPV drones such as the CETUS X.
For someone who comes from DJI type drones, it is advisable to go through FPV type drones from DJI so that the step to be taken is less great: Avata, DJI FPV. On these drones, there is no need to “put your hands in it. »
Otherwise, the FPV packs of Beta FPV are intended for beginners, at a lower cost, as with the Cetus Lite. Again, there is no need to “put your hands in it. »
The "pure and hard" FPV drone is a discipline in which it is absolutely necessary to take an interest in technique, welding, electronic components... it is an exciting and extremely educational hobby since it develops a lot of knowledge. We encourage beginners to be aware of this and get closer to clubs, groups of enthusiasts on social networks, or friends already practicing.
It is by setting up your own machines that you learn to build, repair, configure and fly.
The ideal when you have the time and the passion is to buy a machine in which you can put your hands in later, and in particular change parts (repairs or improvements), but in which everything is ready to work . This is the case of theNazgul of Iflightfor example.
